Question 1

What is a CMMS and what is it for?

Accepted Answer

A CMMS (Computerized Maintenance Management System) centralizes the management of assets, work orders, spare parts, and maintenance plans. It helps to plan preventive tasks, control inventory, record costs, and extend the useful life of assets.

Question 2

What are the essential modules of a CMMS?

Accepted Answer

The most common modules include work order management, preventive and predictive maintenance, spare parts inventory, asset registration, mobile access, and dashboards. They allow for resource control, precise planning, and data-driven decision-making.

Question 3

How long does it take to implement a CMMS?

Accepted Answer

The time varies depending on the complexity. A cloud-based CMMS can be implemented in weeks, while legacy systems or complex integrations can take months. Critical factors include historical data, users, and the level of customization.

Question 4

Accepted Answer

Shepherd is the only CMMS solution that is 100% native to NetSuite, eliminating the need for external integrations. This ensures unified data, fewer errors, and reliable, real-time reports.

Question 5

Shepherd extends NetSuite with modules for preventive, corrective, and field service maintenance, equipment rental, occupational health and safety, help desk, and time tracking. As it is native, all information is managed on a single platform.

Question 6

How does Shepherd facilitate cost and asset analysis?

Accepted Answer

Shepherd links each maintenance order with labor costs, spare parts, and unproductive time in NetSuite. This allows for accurate reports on profitability, depreciation, and real-time KPIs.

Question 7

Can Shepherd integrate with IoT and generate automatic orders?
